I'm in a show this weekend, a charity art sale, so I've been busy.
Here's a sketch that ended up being involved in one of my pieces.
I plan to post some pix of the sale next week....
Ugh. Stuck in another pointless Friday meeting. I had to redeem the time somehow! So my loss is your gain:
A co-worker commented on the shiny apple sitting on my desk. We got into a conversation about the best apples and found out we both only eat Braeburns. I drew this for her to hang in her cube, or possibly tattoo on her shoulder....
This one is older, I drew it quickly but I like it.
SPOOKY!!!
Here he is, the Wolverine of the GI Joe universe! That is, he's overused and the mystery's gone.
I always preferred the "commando" Snakes to the "ninja" version. Commando, but with the wire-visor and the sword.
The mercenary poet. I know--his eyepatch is on the wrong eye, and his mechanical-armored arm should only have 2 fingers...

Here's your standard Viper. If you've got a solid faceplate why do you need goggles?
There's lots of GI Joe stuff happening, including what looks like an abysmal live-action movie. Anyway, I've been a fan since childhood, so here's a week or so of GI Joe sketches. Yeah, nerdly.
So here's an old sketch of everyone's favorite rhyming-chef heavy machine gunner. I'll bet in the movie he'll carry a minigun, cause yeah, we've never seen that in the past 20 years!
The tools are right there! Get out and use them!
This is an old one, drew it at some sort of conference or something...
There used to be a restaurant in Columbus called the Kahiki, it was an awesome Tiki Bar. While in college I would have my birthday party there. It's decor was on the same level as the Tiki Room at Disney, it put other Tiki bars to shame. You could order the "Mystery Drink" and it was delivered in a large bowl (with dry ice smoking from a volcano in the center!) They had a special waitress who delivered it to your table, she was dressed in a sarong like an island girl. Anyway, they bulldozed it to put up a Walgreens.

Cecil Lone-eye. Wes is the guy who does the cover art for the Drive-by Truckers. Fantastic artist, awesome band. My drawing got some kinda grease stain on it--PERFECT!
I don't know why, maybe it's the great shapes or something, but here he is again, and more accurate this time.
I seem to be stuck on 70's–early 80's comic heroes...
Another classic comic hero from the 70's: ROM Spaceknight! (Turns out I don't remember how he looked as well as I'd hoped.) Haven't tried to draw chrome in awhile, either.
Wow, it's been awhile between posts again! Thing is, I have pages and pages of sketches that I could post, it's just finding the time to do it. I've been busy! Here's a sketch of a girl that goes with a cool old car I'm drawing. I might post the final sometime.
Hey, it's been awhile. Been working on some cool projects. Here's the latest on my Blue Sky project, it's looking good, I think! I posted two of the sketches back in April, now I'm working toward the final vector image.
Not Beowulf's enemy, but Wagner's creation. I've read a few Grendel comics and they're usually pretty good. I'm still not sure about his left foot but I do like the left hand.
Hey, here's a favorite of mine; must be, as I've drawn it about 50 times and I even took it to final oil painting at one point, only to return to the sketch stage when I decided it wasn't very good. Anyway, here it is again.
Looks like my buddy Fred's Dylan website, and subsequently my artwork, got mentioned in a blog from Brazil! It's called gulag, I can't read Portuguese so I don't know what they're saying about it but it's cool all the same. It's the May 9th post.gulag
My friend just launched a website, a fun tutorial on how to get into Bob Dylan's music, so I drew some art for him. I think it turned out nicely. If you need artwork for your site drop me an email: bendraws@gmail.com and we can figure it out.

I was in a long department meeting today...
For my friend who has a BioDiesel-powered shipping company.
Found this color drawing in my buddy's backseat while we were carpooling to work, his son drew it. I figured I'd treat the kid to my version of his vision. When I presented my drawing the kid said "huh, your monster only has two legs." Touché.
My friend and I were talking about 80's robots, the pre-anime kind. You know, R2D2, Maximillian, Hector, OLD BOB, Twiki and Dr. Theopolis, Rom Spaceknight, Speak and Spell—The list goes on and on. Anyway, this guy could use more hoses.
Yeah, I know, it says "sketches" for this blog, but I took this guy to final, so I'm posting it. Mostly vector, which was great for drawing that arm, but there's a roughness to the color study/sketch that I really like that gets lost when doing the final. Anyway, here it is.

I'm toying with putting a watermark on my images...
I got a Cowboy here with a robotic arm...
Cam Kennedy-style.
